Delete all .dll files in \Datem Software folder, then reinstall. Older .dll files sometimes are not overwritten, or are overwritten with older files not compatible with Dat/em products. Please be sure all OS service packs are installed, and Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher is present before installing Dat/em software.
Critical error - cannot send orientation information.
This error results from an older hardware lock used with software 2.x or later. Clients updating from 1.x versions to 2.x versions may experience this problem. Just email Support and we'll provide you with an EXE file to reset the hardware lock.
Hardware lock failure.
This results from the wrong number lock being used with the software. A lock is detected, but it does not match the software installed. Verify the key entered during installation with the matching license number on hardware lock. The Datem Info.exe program located in ...\Program Files\Datem Software will read the registry entry for the license there. If Datem Info is used and the license number is different from the hardware lock, please replace the lock with the appropriate number, or get the correct installation key to reinstall the software.
Access denied. There are 3 possibilities for getting an "Access denied" message - a bad hardware lock (or dongle), the absence of the Rainbow driver, or the inability of the parallel port to detect the lock.
- Verify the lock with the Readlock.exe program. A copy of this file can be found on the Dat/em installation CD. If this utility cannot read the hardware lock and display the license number, please contact Dat/em Support for a replacement. If the lock appears to be valid, continue to troubleshoot.
- Be sure that the Rainbow Sentinel driver is installed. Usually, this is installed automatically by the installation script. The "Sentinel System Driver" should show up in the list of currently installed programs from the Control Panel. If you need to install the driver manually, use the RainbowSSD<version>.exe file located on the Dat/em installation CD.
- Sometimes the parallel port settings in the BIOS is not setup to read a lock. The setting will vary depending on the BIOS, but is usually one of the following: bidirectional, PS2, or ECP/EPP.
- The final suggestion is to be sure the locks are securely attached to the parallel port. You may need to change the order in which the locks are attached if you have several other locks on the computer. Some locks only work if they are first in the chain.
OPENGL_WND Task Manager message.
Upon upgrading software, some S/I systems will have older video cards not fully OpenGL compatible. This often results in S/I not showing up or a black screen where vectors should be appearing. In this case the OPENGL_WND message can be viewed by running Task Manager. This can sometimes be rectified by updating the video driver for the video card, or upgrading the video card. Dat/em suggests a dual video card supporting OpenGL 1.1 at a minimum, or higher if running S/I. For more information, refer to our Hardware Support page.
Unsupported Configuration.
Analog stereoplotters only. PlotterClient.exe is run without the clarifier "–c" "analog" . Verify this is in the batch script getting run with the Dat/em icon. To do this, right click the mouse on the Dat/em icon. Select Edit from the menu. There should be a line which reads as follows: Start <drive>:\"Program Files"\"Datem Software"\PlotterClient.exe "-c" "analog".
