RELEASE 4.0
Product Notes
The following changes have
been made to DAT/EM products. Please review these items before installing
your update.
As always, DAT/EM welcomes
comments and suggestions from you, our clients, so please don’t hesitate to
contact our support department at support@datem.com,
or by calling in or faxing us with your requests.
Release 4.0 is compiled
specifically for Windows 2000 and XP.
Windows VISTA is not supported at this time.
Release 4.0 is compatible
with the following CAD versions:
AutoCAD: *R14, 2002, 2004,
2005, 2006, 2007
MicroStation: *Ustn J, MicroStation V8 2004 Edition
ArcGIS: *ArcMap 9.1, ArcMap 9.2
*These
versions are available but no longer supported. No further development will
occur.
PLEASE NOTE: If you are thinking about purchasing a 64-bit
computer, please contact DAT/EM. There are newly pending drivers associated
with hardware and software. Special considerations for compatibility are necessary
when using this newest option in hardware technology.

1. DiAP models may
be imported into
Select
File->Import and select the “ISM DiAP Models…”
option.

Click “Add” to add one or more .mod
files. Define the
2. Summit Viewer Edition has been enhanced. Now you can (1)
automatically load adjacent stereo models, (2) activate Terrain Mode so the
cursor follows the surface based on a loaded DTM, and (3) collect vectors using
standard Capture tools. To digitize objects in 3D, the terrain mode must be
active, and the elevation assigned is the interpolated value from the DTM that
is loaded. Editing tools are available, based on the CAD interface purchased
with the Viewer.
3. DiAP footdisk
communication was not working properly and this was fixed.
4. DiAP’s .sdt
binary DTM format was added to the dialogs opening DTM data. The format can be
used directly, or can be converted using the point translator,
LandscapePointTrans.exe.
5. Tools->Options->File Locations were not correctly
directing default paths as assigned. This was fixed.
6. Camera fiducial patches were sometimes
listed as “no” in the “Has Patches” column of the automatic interior dialog
when, in fact, they did exist. This was corrected. Remember, the fiducial patch images are always stored with the camera
file(s) for the project.
7. Four-band imagery is now
8. Clip Scope, a setting in
9. On-the-fly image histogram adjustments are improved in both
speed and display quality.
10. A bug causing Terrain Visualization to crash was fixed.
11. In the Project Viewer Options->Image tab a new setting for Image
Pixel Size is provided to adjust the size of the image used in the viewer image
display.
12. Grayscale Indexed Color .tif images are
supported.
13. Terrain Visualizer has been improved.

New settings include:
a. Uniform
Grid. Similar to a
b. Spline Lines. Spline smoothing
adds vertices and smooths the contour. Spline smoothing doubles the amount of time to generate
contours because aggressive checks are made to guarantee no lines cross.
c. Fast Generation Mode, when activated, will speed
up contour display. To maximize performance, spline
smoothing is not applied and minimum area contours are not detected.
14. ADS40 project setup has been streamlined by
adding two buttons to the Project Edit dialog for ADS40 projects. “Add Multi
Using Sup” and “Add Multi” buttons allow multiple image selection and the
ability to search for files according to paths in the .sup files.

The
second method of searching for files related to an image is based on image
name. Each of these search methods provides added benefit to setting up large
ADS40 projects with several images and supporting files.
15. Some Stealth Z-mouse communications were
intermittently broken. Changes have been made to both hardware for new devices,
and software in this release, to resolve these issues.
16. A correction was made to prevent
17. Sample ADS40 imagery exhibiting both 16-bit
and 12-bit data resulted in a setting added to Image Creation to force the imagery to 12-bit.
If
multiple bit configurations are detected within a single image, the imagery
does not display properly unless processed with this option checked on.
18. The ability to read in control files with
multiple line entries was added.
19. Rotated ADS40 imagery is processed by using
information from supporting files such as the <image_name>.ads
file.
20. Refraction correction was added for aerial
projects. There is a new checkbox in the Project Edit dialog for this project
type.

21. Earth
Curvature was not applied for digital camera projects. This was fixed.
22. A correction
was made to orientation for images with different rotations paired together to
obtain stereo.
23. MoveToGround would display points not in the current model.
If auto-load-next-model was active, this could cause
SuperImposition
MicroStation S/I
AutoCAD S/I
No changes.

NOTE: This is the first DAT/EM release supporting
ArcGIS version 9.2. Recommended versions of ArcGIS are 9.1 and 9.2.
1. In the Summit Evolution Button Manager, the Generic CAD -
Tentative setting is now active for use with ArcMap. This button causes
the Summit Evolution cursor to move to a snapped-to point. The move is XYZ if
3D snap is on; the move is XY if 2D snap is on; the cursor does not move if
snap is off.
2. This item may have been active in previous versions, but was not
documented for ArcMap. The Summit Evolution Button Manager can support a series
of keyword sets on a single “Type=User CAD” button. Separate each keyword set
with a semi-colon character (;). Do not add a space before or after the
semi-colon (;). Each time the button is pressed, the next keyword set is
activated, cycling back to the first set after the
last set is used.

3. SHIFT FEATURES was not accepting
user-defined elevation fields as well as elevations on each vertex. This was corrected.
4. A change in Release 3.10 when multiple
input devices was added caused the DRAG button
configuration to fail. This was fixed.

Capture
for AutoCAD
NOTE: All changes apply to AutoCAD
2000-2007 versions unless stated otherwise. This is the first release
supporting AutoCAD 2007.
1. AutoCAD 2007 required several changes and a recompile of DAT/EM
software. If you experience any problems using AutoCAD 2007 with Capture or MapEditor, please notify DAT/EM support.

Capture
for MicroStation
Changes apply to Capture for MicroStation
V8/2004 Edition series only. MicroStation V8 version should be 08.05.00.64 or
higher.
This is the first release to install for MicroStation XM. However, testing has not been completed
and it is considered a beta release right now.
You are welcome to use Capture for MicroStation
XM and report any problems to support@datem.com.
However, at this time DAT/EM cannot recommend Capture for XM for map
production. (Note: Bentley recommends that hyperthreading
be off in the PC BIOS for best performance.)
1. EDSYMBOLOGY has been removed from the command list. The
functionality is available in CHANGE ATTRIBUTES, as well as additional options.
CHANGE ATTRIBUTES is not a new command. If you currently use EDSYMBOLOGY on a
keypad or other customized tool, please modify it to call CHANGE ATTRIBUTES.
2. Bentley recommends that hyperthreading
be turned off in the BIOS of the computer running MicroStation
V8 XM Edition. There are some reports of sluggish response in XM. Bentley has
already released an update. Please check their web site for additional
information regarding this new version and update as necessary.
3. XYZOUT is in the process of having a facelift and is still being
debugged. If you have suggestions for this command that you wish to submit, now
is a good time to get this into the software, so please contact support.

4. CROSSCHECK is undergoing some additional testing and review. If
you experience a problem using this command, please contact DAT/EM support.
5. XYZIN is currently being tested for rewrite. If you have trouble
using the existing command, please contact DAT/EM
6. DATDRAW
CHANGE SETTINGS, including the “Use Attributes” checkbox in the
DATDRAW dialog, has been deactivated. The command was locking up MicroStation. A solution will be provided in the next
release. Other DATDRAW commands work well.
7. Editing cells with EZ caused a scale change. This was corrected.
8. Occasionally, menus added to the MicroStation
menu bar when an application is loaded would either not appear at all, or
appear several times, once for each time the
application was loaded. This has been fixed.
9. TOUCH BATCH can fail to detect multiple crossings along the same
object.
10. Bspline curve objects are now supported
in DAT/EM object processing tools.
11. MapEditor’s Parameter File Editor will
sort entries in default processing order. The Sort button has been modified to
“Default CMD Order”. This option will reorder each command entry of the parameter
file currently being edited. Although there is more than one possible sort
order for processing, a default has been established as follows.
