Brazil's Sugar Loaf ( "Pão de Açúcar" )is a great granite peak that towers at the entrance to Guanabara Bay, within the city limits of Rio de Janeiro.
Sugar Loaf is a name associated with literally hundreds of mountains around the world, including peaks throughout the U.K. as well as continental Europe, Australia, Maine, Vermont, Maryland, Kentucky, Sierra Leone, and Papua New Guinea, to mention only a few.
Today a railway leads to the summit, offering a splendid view of the city and its beaches.
