Mr. Jeffrey Yates has a Bachelor of Science degree in Land Planning from Montana State University, USA. Upon graduation he was a land surveyor with the United States Forest Service and then worked with the United States Geological Survey on a nation-wide digitizing project.
Jeff initially began his career in 1982 as a cartographer with AeroMap (now known as Aero-Metric Inc.) responsible for photogrammetric map compilation/production using analog and analytical stereoplotters. In the mid eighties he started testing a new system, eventually named DAT/EM Capture™, which became the first all digital mapping interface linking AutoCAD® with analog and analytical stereoplotters. The first sale of Capture took place in 1987. In 1995, Jeff was promoted to General Manager of DAT/EM Systems International where he oversaw development and marketing of the ‘SUMMIT Evolution’ softcopy system.
Mr. Yates has also participated as a technician and climber on the first GPS surveys of Mt. Everest in Nepal, Mt. McKinley in Alaska and Mt. Fuji in Japan.
